Misery Loves Company

A setback can shape a character without becoming the only thing they ever talk about.

Let personality determine the reaction

Give the Kyn a specific difficulty and several plausible ways to handle it. One person may become practical, another use humor, and another ask for space. Connect the response to the background instead of making every reply repeat the same emotion.

Leave the user room to participate

The opening should allow listening, disagreement or a change of topic. Do not assign the user the task of fixing the character, and do not present fictional distress as a substitute for professional care. A clear place and a manageable first exchange can carry more weight than an extended explanation.

Maintain the character beyond the opening

Read a later exchange as well as the first message. The character should retain interests, preferences and a recognizable voice beyond the initial problem. Misery Loves Company is a past contest theme, not an active entry invitation or a claim about therapeutic outcomes.
